LUMBAR DISC HERNIATION: CAUSES, SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENTS

When you start having pain in your lower back that you’ve never felt before, you may have a lumbar hernia.

The spinal column is made up of a series of interlinked bones (vertebrae). The lumbar spine is made up of 5 vertebrae, and the discs protect the spine by absorbing shock, allowing daily activities such as walking, lifting and twisting.

Each disk has two parts: a soft, gel-like inner portion and a hard outer ring. Injury or weakness can cause the inner portion of the disc to protrude through the outer ring. This is known as a slipped, herniated or prolapsed disc and causes pain or discomfort. If the slipped disc compresses one of the nerves in your spine, you may also feel numbness and pain along the affected nerve.

CAUZE

It can be hard to conclude exactly what causes a herniated lumbar disc. It often occurs slowly, with no clear cause. A herniated lumbar disc occurs when the outer ring becomes weak or torn, and allows the inner portion to slip. This can happen with age. Certain movements can also cause a herniated disc.

A disk can slip out of place while twisting or turning to lift an object. If you have a physically static job that requires a lot of clerical work, you may be at increased risk for developing a herniated lumbar disc.

Overweight people are also at increased risk for herniated lumbar discs, because their discs have to bear extra weight. Weak muscles and a sedentary lifestyle can also contribute to the development of a lumbar herniation.

SIMPTOME

You can have a herniated disc in any part of the spine, from the neck to the lower back. The lower back is one of the most common areas for herniated discs. The spine is a complex network of nerves and blood vessels, so a herniated disc can put extra strain on the nerves and muscles around it.

Symptoms of a slipped disk include: pain and numbness, most commonly on one side of the body; pain that spreads to the legs; pain that worsens at night, after standing or walking short distances. You may also feel unexplained muscle weakness, tingling, aching or burning in the affected area.

Types of pain can vary from person to person. You should see a specialist if your pain causes numbness or tingling that affects your ability to control your muscles.

TREATMENT WITHOUT SURGERY FOR HERNIATED DISC!

If you have a herniated lumbar disc, the first question is whether it is possible to resolve a herniated disc without surgery. The latest researchers have proven that lumbar disc herniation can be cured/retracted if proper treatment is applied to the affected area. Our experienced neurosurgeons have done the research: before treatment, they diagnosed herniated disc by MRI and after the applied treatments, they did another MRI. At the last imaging, the herniated disk was significantly cured. The same research was done in the US. Patients who followed their treatments and took more precautions about their daily activities healed herniated discs, given the MRI scans before and after treatment.

In the clinic, our success rate in treating herniated disc patients has reached 95% with our innovative treatment techniques, combining osteopathic procedures, manual therapy and physiotherapy. Patients suffering from pain, numbness, burning sensation and weakness are treated with our revolutionary approach. In conclusion, we NEVER RECOMMEND making a surgical decision before attempting disc rehabilitation.

Treatment usually depends on the level of discomfort you are experiencing and how the disc has herniated out of place.

Most people can relieve herniated disc pain by using an appropriate treatment program that targets the source of the problem. This is why it is important to first determine the source of your problems and only then also treat them. We also recommend that you modify the activities of daily living that cause you physical discomfort to protect your disc.

Although it may be tempting to refrain from any physical activity while experiencing the pain or discomfort of a herniated disc, this can lead to muscle weakness and joint stiffness. Instead, try to stay as active as possible with stretching or low-impact activities such as walking.
