SACROILIAC JOINT DYSFUNCTION: CAUSES, SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENTS
Sacroiliac joint dysfunction, also known as sacroiliitis, is a painful condition of the lower spine. It is a common cause of lower back pain. Inflammation of a sacroiliac joint causes the condition.
There are two sacroiliac joints – one on each side of the spine. The joints connect the bone at the bottom of the vertebrae to the top of the pelvis. Sacroiliitis can affect one or both joints.
Pain from the condition may occur in the lower back and buttocks. Sometimes sacroiliitis can send pain down one or both legs.

CAUZE
Causes of sacroiliitis can include:
sacroiliac joint damage from a fall or after a car accident
joints become soft during pregnancy to prepare for childbirth
altered gait during pregnancy
arthrosis and ankylosing spondylitis (an inflammatory arthritis)
an infected sacroiliac joint (not as common)
gout
existing back or spinal problems
SIMPTOME
Stiffness in the hips, pelvis and back
Burning radiating pain in the leg
Tends to be on one side
Increased pain while walking and standing
Pain that gets worse at night
Falling asleep on your side can often be painful
