The difference between a passing episode and years of discomfort usually lies in what you do AFTER the pain first settles.

What can back pain mean?

It depends on the area: LOWER back pain — the most common — comes from muscles, discs, facet joints or the sacroiliac joint; MID-back pain (between the shoulder blades) — usually postural and myofascial; NECK pain — posture, joint dysfunction, discs. In the vast majority of cases it is “non-specific” — no serious lesion — and precisely therefore treatable through correct movement.

Common symptoms

Dull or sharp pain in one region of the spine, morning stiffness, worse with prolonged sitting or standing, episodes of “locking”, background muscle fatigue — and sometimes radiation into a limb, which calls for closer assessment.

Common causes

Long desk hours, posture, incorrect lifting, sedentary habits, weakened supporting muscles, stress and insufficient sleep — factors that accumulate over time.

Can it be treated without surgery?

Yes — non-specific back pain is treated conservatively, and the active approach (exercise, education, early return to activity) has the best evidence. The rare red flags are screened out at assessment.

How we treat back pain at Medicine Park

We assess your whole spine, posture, strength and daily habits, then build the plan: manual and chiropractic care for stiff segments, a progressive stabilisation programme, desk and sleep posture correction, and a realistic movement plan. The goal: not just calming this episode, but breaking the “it got me again” cycle. All in English.

How long does recovery take?

Acute episodes: 2–6 weeks. Chronic or recurring pain: a 2–3 month programme that rebuilds the foundation.

When to seek help

If back pain returns ever more often or has started radiating, book an assessment.
