The finding itself is not the problem; pain and stiffness are, and those respond very well to the right treatment.

What is cervical spondylosis?

It is the natural adaptation of the cervical spine over time: discs lose height, joints develop extra bone, ligaments stiffen. Many people with visible spondylosis have no symptoms at all. Symptoms appear when a segment becomes overloaded, stiff or irritated — and that is a mechanical problem physiotherapy can address.

Symptoms

Neck stiffness, especially in the morning; aching that spreads to the shoulder blades or the back of the head; grinding or clicking with movement; in some cases tingling into the arm when a nerve is irritated; headaches that start from the neck.

Does spondylosis get worse forever?

The imaging findings evolve slowly with age, but symptoms do not have to follow. Research is consistent: necks that stay mobile and strong hurt less, regardless of what the X-ray shows. The goal of treatment is not to reverse the image — it is to make your neck function well.

How we treat it at Medicine Park

Assessment first: which segments are stiff, which muscles have stopped doing their job, what movements provoke your pain, and whether a nerve is involved. Treatment combines hands-on mobilisation of the stiff segments, deep neck flexor and scapular strengthening, posture and workstation adjustments, and a home routine that takes minutes a day. We also teach you how to manage flare-ups so they stop dictating your week.

How long until improvement?

Most patients feel meaningful relief within 4–6 sessions. Long-standing stiffness takes longer to remodel — consistency beats intensity.

When to seek help

If neck pain comes with progressive arm weakness, loss of hand dexterity, or balance problems, see a doctor promptly. For the everyday stiff, aching, grinding neck — book your free assessment.

Age-related neck wear does not have to mean daily pain.
