WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

About your condition

Pain very low in your back, right above the pelvis, flaring with bending, lifting or prolonged sitting? Lumbosacral pain — pain of the lumbosacral region — is one of the most common forms of low back pain, and the modern, active approach gets very good results.

What is lumbosacral pain?

It is pain localised at the junction between the lumbar spine and the sacrum (the L5–S1 area) — a region under high load where the disc, facet joints and sacroiliac joints meet. It can be acute or chronic, with or without radiation into the buttock.

Common symptoms

Pain low in the back, above the pelvis, worse with bending, lifting, prolonged sitting or standing, morning stiffness, sometimes radiation into the buttock and a “locking” sensation with certain movements.

Common causes

Overload of the lumbosacral junction, prolonged sitting and poor posture, incorrect lifting, weak supporting muscles, pelvic imbalances and, sometimes, L5–S1 disc or facet degeneration.

Can it be treated without surgery?

Yes — non-specific lumbosacral pain is treated conservatively, with therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and postural education. Surgery is not an option for the common form; red flags are screened out at assessment.

How we treat lumbosacral pain at Medicine Park

We assess the lumbar spine, sacroiliac joints, pelvis and movement patterns, then build the plan: manual and chiropractic care for stiff segments, progressive core stabilisation, desk-posture and lifting correction, and a realistic movement plan. All in English.

How long does recovery take?

Acute episodes: 2–6 weeks. Chronic or recurring forms: a 2–3 month programme that rebuilds stability.

When to seek help

If lumbosacral pain returns ever more often or limits your activity, book an assessment. Your first assessment at Medicine Park is free.
