WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

About your condition

Heel pain seems trivial — until every step becomes a negotiation. The causes are multiple and treated differently, which is why randomly bought insoles disappoint so often. A precise diagnosis is half the treatment.

What can heel pain mean?

Location guides diagnosis: pain UNDER the heel with first steps in the morning — plantar fasciitis (the most common cause, often with an associated heel spur); pain BEHIND the heel — Achilles tendinopathy or retrocalcaneal bursitis; diffuse pain after impact — fat pad contusion; in sporty children and teens — Sever’s disease.

Common symptoms

Sharp pain with the first steps after rest, pain that “warms up” then returns after activity, tenderness at one precise point, discomfort on stairs or tiptoes, and trouble with certain shoes.

Common causes

Long hours standing on hard surfaces, sudden activity increases, unsupportive footwear, tight calves and Achilles, flat or high-arched feet, excess weight and inefficient gait mechanics.

Can it be treated without surgery?

Yes — the vast majority of heel pain responds to conservative treatment targeted at the exact cause: offloading, structured stretching, progressive strengthening and mechanics correction. Surgery is a rarity.

How we treat heel pain at Medicine Park

We identify the exact structure involved, then build the plan: manual therapy for the fascia and posterior chain, dry needling for the calves, a progressive loading programme, footwear advice and, where needed, arch support. We treat the cause in the chain, not just the painful spot. All in English.

How long does recovery take?

Recent cases: 4–6 weeks. Chronic ones: 2–3 months of consistent work — with measurable progress from the first weeks.

When to seek help

If heel pain persists beyond two weeks or greets you every morning, do not let it become chronic. Your first assessment at Medicine Park is free.
